One of Alvar Aalto's most ingenious villas is Maison Carré, a total concept where the Finnish modernist specially designed everything down to the smallest door handle. However, few people have visited this masterpiece, since it was built in 1959 and has belonged to the Carré family. Until now, that is. In the spring the Finnish Cultural Foundation bought the house and in 2007 it will be opened to the public. Forum AID asked photographer Hélène Binet to hurry there before the renovation got started in earnest.
